Hypnotherapy for Drinking

The difference between Alcholism and Binge Drinking

Alcoholism is classified as a substance use disorder, while binge drinking can also fall under the same category. However, there are key distinctions between the two.

Binge drinking is defined as consuming a high volume of alcohol in a short time span. Some binge drinkers may indulge heavily on weekends but manage to get through the week without drinking.

On the other hand, alcoholism is characterised by an inability to control drinking and an increased tolerance to alcohol.

I am an award-winning hypnotherapist with 22+ years of experience in helping people to quit binge drinking using hypnotherapy for drinking. While I cannot offer treatment for alcoholism, which requires specialised long-term support, I can assist with strategies to manage binge drinking behaviors.

Research into Hypnosis for Binge Drinking

A recent study involving 31 adults in an inpatient treatment program for alcohol use disorder examined the efficacy of hypnotherapy. Participants were assigned to two groups: one received motivational interview therapy, while the other group underwent hypnotherapy for drinking.

In this study, hypnotherapy encouraged participants to visualize themselves mastering urges to drink alcohol in various scenarios, such as:

The benefits of Hypnotherapy for Binge Drinking

If you find yourself using alcohol to manage feelings of anxiety, depression, loneliness, or stress, then hypnotherapy for stress and anxiety can be particularly beneficial. Hypnotherapy is effective for modifying drinking habits and can support your journey toward reducing or quitting alcohol consumption.

What are your goals around drinking?

What is the process?

Binge drinking has its original roots in childhood…that doesn’t mean you started having thoughts about drinking alcohol as a baby! Something happened to you when very young that causes the adult to use alcohol to manage anxiety, depression, loneliness, and stress.

While you cannot change what happened in the past, you can modify your reactions to current situations that trigger these feelings. A course of hypnotherapy for stress and anxiety helps access the subconscious to uncover the underlying causes of your anxieties and fears.

Through this process, you will learn to reprogram your beliefs and set productive goals, enhancing your self-belief. You’ll participate in visualization exercises to envision the ‘new you’ and how you want to feel. These positive images are firmly embedded in your mind. Once guided through these suggestions and visualizations, you will gently and calmly emerge from the hypnotic state.

Please give me a call, and we can set up an initial 30-minute consultation, free of charge, where I can explain how I may help you cut back on your drinking through hypnotherapy for drinking.
